A special portrait, of a special horse, for a special lady.
Why is it a special portrait? I hear you ask. This portrait will be my first using two new techniques. Now I would love to tell you what they are, but I'm hoping you will see both techniques when you see the finished portrait, they will be easy to spot. 😜 The Horse? Well he is not special to myself (Although I treat each portrait as if it was going to hang on my wall). But this horse was very special to to the recipient of this portrait. Lastly, Well the lady is special beca

Tarka
This is the work in progress..... It is a pastel pencil drawing of my beloved cat Tarka, sadly no longer with us. I am finding him hard to draw as he was such a big hearted boy, who was very cheeky and full of mischief! Oh, how we loved him.

I don't mind admitting it was a very scary endeavour for me, from having to explain my process at every stage, the how and why I do things, and if that wasn't hard enough, I had to learn how to download it from my phone to my laptop, then upload it to YouTube. There is seven video/tutorials available to watch on my YouTube channel, Blue Cat Art. I hope you enjoy them and

As an animal and wildlife artist, I am always searching for inspiration and reference photos. so when I saw the photograph by nature photographer Steve Owen, I immediately sort his permission to use it for my art, which Steve gladly gave. Now I know this will make a great coloured pencil picture, and I am definitely going to draw it before the year is out, I can't wait. But that box of w

A Little About Me
Both my parents dabbled in the arts, my mother liked to draw in graphite pencil in her middle years and was very good at it, but never sold anything. She later turned her hand to cross stitch and knitting donkeys for the Donkey Sanctuary to sell for donations. My father who is now an author, used to paint oils on canvas, and very good he was too. I myself dabbled a little when I was younger but only for myself and a few cartoon characters for my son when he was small. Due to

"Hello"
Seals, they are the puppies of the water world, full of mischief. With those big puppy dog eyes. How could you not love them? This was a big piece for me.
