My Story

Merlin.jpg

In December 2016 I had to say goodbye to my horse of 17 years, it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do! He had got me through the death of both my husband and mum a few years before, and he was my one constant.

A few months later I was gifted a wonderful portrait of my late horse, and blubbered like a baby. It now hangs beautifully on my wall for all to see as a reminder and an inspiration to me.

I had no training and hadn't picked up a pencil since I was a small child. But that one portrait inspired me to start drawing. I won't lie, my early drawings were not good at all. But as I had taken medical retirement a few years prior, I had plenty of time on my hands, so I just kept drawing, and to my surprise they were getting better. I was learning new techniques, and I fell in love with coloured pencils.

Nine years on and I have moved to pastel pencils and have found my style in hypo-realism. I'm totally self taught and my mantra is the 3P's Practice, Perseverance, and Patience. The latter being the hardest to achieve.

I hope you will follow my art journey. I don't know were it will take me going forward but I'm excited for what the future might hold.
